Our Victory…Part XXVI

A prayer: Lord, help me to have a heart for those who have little. Help me not to pass judgement, but rather, pass a plate or aid and assistance to my brother. Help me to remember it is you who has blessed me. Lord, you who have prospered me, not just for my well-being, but for the well-being of those around me. In fact, Lord, your word makes it clear that you will bless me, richly bless me, if I become willing to give not just a handout, but a hand up to the poor. Thank you, Lord, for making me the lender, not the borrower and for blessing me with more than enough.

Leviticus 23:22 (NIV) “When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and the alien. I am the Lord your God.”

Deuteronomy 15:1-6 (NIV) At the end of every seven years you must cancel debts.2 This is how it is to be done: Every creditor shall cancel the loan he has made to his fellow Israelite. He shall not require payment from his fellow Israelite or brother, because the Lord’s time for canceling debts has been proclaimed. 3 You may require payment from a foreigner, but you must cancel any debt your brother owes you. 4 However, there should be no poor among you, for in the land the Lord your God is giving you to possess as your inheritance, he will richly bless you, 5 if only you fully obey the Lord your God and are careful to follow all these commands I am giving you today. 6 For the Lord your God will bless you as he has promised, and you will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. You will rule over many nations but none will rule over you.

Our Victory Part XXV

I am learning the importance of not neglecting those amongst us who have very little. Their station in life is not to be mocked or ridiculed. I will not harden my heart nor shut my hand to them but I am told by God, to open my hand wide to them and to be willing to help them. Rather than my heart becoming calloused or grieved toward them, I will freely give to them, not expecting anything in return. This way, the abundance God has blessed me with will not rule me, nor cause me to hoard or become greedy, but the blessing of the Lord which makes me rich will cause me to be ever more generous.

Lord, thank you for the Victory provided for me at the cross, I gratefully receive it by faith. (Note: these “I Declare” devotions are meant to be proclaimed out loud, as a prayer – a part of your personal daily devotions.)

Deuteronomy 15:7-11 (NKJV) If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, 8 but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs. 9 Beware lest there be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, ‘The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,’ and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing, and he cry out to the Lord against you, and it become sin among you. 10 You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand. 11 For the poor will never cease from the land; therefore I command you, saying, ‘You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land.’

Our Victory…Part XXIV

As I succeed in life, I will never forget the poor. Those who have little, no matter the reason, deserve to be treated with the same respect and dignity as those who have much. In fact, the Lord God Himself will take up the poor man’s case and will plunder those who plunder them. The last thing I want is to fight against the Lord. I need God on my side and in my corner, so I will do my best to be a generous person. For a poor man who lives with integrity is better than a rich man who distorts right from wrong.

Lord, thank you for the Victory provided for me at the cross, I gratefully receive it by faith. (Note: these “I Declare” devotions are meant to be proclaimed out loud, as a prayer – a part of your personal daily devotions.)

Proverbs 22:22-23 (HCSB) Don’t rob a poor man because he is poor, and don’t crush the oppressed at the gate, 23 for the Lord will take up their case and will plunder those who plunder them.

Proverbs 28:3 (HCSB) A destitute leader who oppresses the poor is like a driving rain that leaves no food.

Proverbs 28:6 (HCSB) Better a poor man who lives with integrity than a rich man who distorts right and wrong.,

Our Victory…Part XXIII

I am truly only successful when I hear the cry of the poor. Help me Lord, to share what I have with those who have so little. Help me not be selfish and hoard your blessings for my own wants and desires, but be willing to share with those you bring my way. Open my eyes Lord to those around me who could use a hand up. Help me Lord, to put behind me the thinking of “getting all I can and can all I get”. You bless me to bless others. You shower me with your grace, so I can shower others with it. You give me more than enough, so I can give more than I could ever imagine.

Lord, thank you for the Victory provided for me at the cross, I gratefully receive it by faith. (Note: these “I Declare” devotions are meant to be proclaimed out loud, as a prayer – a part of your personal daily devotions.)

Proverbs 21:13 (ESV) Whoever closes his ear to the cry of the poor will himself call out and not be answered.

Proverbs 22:9 (ESV) Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor.

Proverbs 22:16 (ESV) Whoever oppresses the poor to increase his own wealth, or gives to the rich, will only come to poverty.

Our Victory…Part XXII

The secret to my success is not in my accumulation of things or in climbing my way to the top wrung. The secret is in my giving. Giving opens the doorway to true success for when I’m willing to give, God Himself will pay me back. Yes, I’ll give to the poor. I’ll give to the needy. I’ll not despise, oppress or mock the poor…I’ll give. Whether out of my little or my much, I’ll give. Lord, help me to be kind and generous to those around me who need not just a handout but a hand up.

Lord, thank you for the Victory provided for me at the cross, I gratefully receive it by faith. (Note: these “I Declare” devotions are meant to be proclaimed out loud, as a prayer – a part of your personal daily devotions.)

Proverbs 19:17 (ESV) Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.

Our Victory…Part XXI

My Victory is secure for the Lord grants me success. In the Name of the Lord, I am blessed. From His very house, He blesses me. The Lord God has given me light to shine, so darkness cannot triumph over me. You are my God, and I will give you thanks. You are my God; I will exalt you. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His faithful love endures forever.

Psalms 118:19-29 (HCSB) Open the gates of righteousness for me; I will enter through them and give thanks to the Lord. 20 This is the gate of the Lord; the righteous will enter through it. 21 I will give thanks to You because You have answered me and have become my salvation. 22 The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
23 This came from the Lord; it is wonderful in our eyes. 24 This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. 25 Lord, save us! Lord, please grant us success! 26 He who comes in the name of the Lord is blessed. From the house of the Lord we bless you. 27 The Lord is God and has given us light. Bind the festival sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar. 28 You are my God, and I will give You thanks. You are my God; I will exalt You. 29 Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His faithful love endures forever.
