Day 10 – Jesus Faces the Sanhedrin

Matthew 26:57-63

And those who had laid hold of Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. 58 But Peter followed Him at a distance to the high priest’s courtyard. And he went in and sat with the servants to see the end. 59 Now the chief priests, the elders, and all the council sought false testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, 60 but found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none. But at last two false witnesses came forward 61 and said, “This fellow said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days. ‘” 62 And the high priest arose and said to Him, “Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?” 63 But Jesus kept silent.

Jesus understood the heart of man and the evil that lurks within, this is why on His Journey to the Cross He said nothing. In the garden, He fully committed Himself to the will of God and now He was not about to allow the twisted lies of deceitful men to detract Him. Nothing or no one would be allowed to alter His purpose. This is what Living in Victory is all about…once you’ve set your course to follow the will and plan of God, nothing or no one can steer you away from your goal. Man can scheme against you, they can lie and twist your words, but a determined man, a man whose heart is molded by the Lord will not allow for the seeds of fear or doubt to knock him off course.
