Day 14 – Jesus Faces Herod

Luk 23:6-8 (NKJV)

When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked if the Man were a Galilean. 7 And as soon as he knew that He belonged to Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent Him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem at that time. 8 Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad; for he had desired for a long time to see Him, because he had heard many things about Him, and he hoped to see some miracle done by Him.

The very thing the devil himself tried getting Jesus to do at the beginning of His ministry (perform miracles and such), he tried doing again, this time using his human agent Herod.  Remember, after the temptations in the wilderness, the devil left, waiting for an opportune time. Well, this was one such time, but Jesus saw him coming and refused to play the devils game. In fact, our Saviours Journey to the Cross was loaded with devilish opportunities to jump ship, thankfully He never caved. Living in Victory requires us to do the same. First, to recognize the temptations the enemy throws our way and to dodge them with all His strength within. Second, we must refuse to give into those temptations no matter how compelling they may be. My prayer for you is that you will see what’s coming down the enemies pipe and that you’ll have this…stubborn, determined attitude to never play into the enemies hand.
