Election update – When the wicked rise to power

Exodus 18:21 But select capable men from all the people–men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain–and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.

Proverbs 28:12 When the righteous triumph, there is great elation; but when the wicked rise to power, men go into hiding.

What does it mean when the “wicked rise to power”? Who are the wicked? And…how does one determine the state of someone’s wickedness? Well, according to scripture, any person who is not a believer in God is wicked. Someone may say, “isn’t that rough”? My answer, “I didn’t write the book”. Before I came to faith by putting my trust in Jesus Christ, I was wicked. My thoughts, actions and reactions were not based on God’s ways of doing things, nor did I have an inkling of a desire to do so – that friends is wickedness. So…this coming election, which party leader and party platform has more of a propensity toward doing things God’s way and which don’t? Here’s the thing, I believe Christians in this nation should be deeply concerned about the upholding of Biblical Ethics. Yes, the management of our economy, national security, health care…are very important but so is doing those things God’s way. History has proven, a nation that does not value scripture, nor God’s opinion, spirals down into deep darkness – all forms of wickedness start to prevail, as people give way to their baser nature.  I for one, pray this would not occur in this nation. As Exodus & Proverbs states, “When capable men and women are placed in positions of power –  men and women who fear God, trustworthy men and women, who hated dishonest gain, then there will be great elation amongst the people”. Make this your prayer in the coming days and let’s see true change occur in this country, as men and women repent of their wickedness and give their lives to Christ.
