Freed from prison

Acts 12:6-7 (ESV) Now when Herod was about to bring him out, on that very night, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries before the door were guarding the prison. 7 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood next to him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him, saying, “Get up quickly.” And the chains fell off his hands.

This story is so cool! It reminds me of what God did for me when I was shackled between my enemies. I was caught in a trap, wisely set by the enemy, bound by my many poor choices. There seemingly was no way out and slowly, I gave up any hope of deliverance. The soldiers of darkness stuck close to me, clung to me, never letting me out of their sight. Any move I made in an attempt to free myself from them was fruitless, I was bound to them and them to me…for life. I was trapped in a prison of my own making. But a miracle occurred! Christ showed up with his band of angel warriors and in a moment, in a twinkling of an eye, I was freed…Unleashed by the power of His great love. Guided by the right hand of God, I fled that prison never again to return. I was free and ever since, I have lived my life celebrating that freedom. I am ever grateful for Christ’s selfless act of grace, kindness and mercy toward me and I pray my life has and is being used of Him to help free others from their personal prisons.
