Fantasyical or Real

Mark 4:35-41 (ESV) On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” 36 And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. 38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” 39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” 41 And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

Yup, this story makes it abundantly clear that There Is No god, Like Our God. Jesus Christ – God wrapped in flesh, the third person of the Godhead Trinty speaks and the wind and sea obey Him. Talk about power and authority, our Saviour had it all and the beauty here is Jesus was showing His Disciples that they too could walk in the same power and authority. We see this when he rebukes them for their lack of faith. Everything Jesus did was for the purpose of training, training his disciples and you the future church. You have to remember that for the boys, they were only beginning to encounter the awesome display of Christ’s authority. They had been with Him only a short time and all this was so new. Friends, if you’re new to Christianity or in your discovering of who Jesus really was – meaning your learning about Him from the actual pages of the Bible rather than what was passed down traditionally, be patient. The stuff you’ll read about, like with this story, almost seems surreal. Don’t pass it off as fantasyical, it’s very real and shows us the God side of things. Keep it up, asking God for understanding each time you read.
