RESTing in God

Genesis 2:1-3 (NKJV) Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. 2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

Our God is so very wise, as He set in motion at the beginning of things, the ultimate example for us to follow – Rest. Here’s the thing; you and I must learn how to REST in the finished work of our God. He has done everything for us. Really, think about it for a moment. Our God has set the whole show up for us. Everything He created was created with you in mind. This then should be enough to remove the unending striving from our lives. This is what REST does, it removes the trying to get or become from our lives. As Born-Again followers of Jesus Christ, our REST is in God, thus taking the compulsion of striving away from us. I hope I’m making sense. I hope you’re seeing the purpose of REST. To stop striving, to stop working. RESTing in God allows us to relax and be at peace in His presence rather that striving to be accepted. As Christians, when we stop doing and start RESTing in God, then we can begin to experience a side of God we may never have experienced before and witness our spiritual journey excel to new heights.
