1 John 5:1-5 (NKJV) Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
One of the reasons “There Is No god, Like Our God” is because He doesn’t make it hard on us to follow Him. Unlike other…so called gods, that place tonnes of weighty pressure upon their followers, our God does none of that. v3 says, “His commandments are not burdensome”. They truly are not hard to do when you do them out of a genuine love relationship with God. I find obeying God far easier when I am more focused on Him than on my problems, joys or personal thrills. Following Him is far easier and more joyful when I am doing the best I can (and then some) with my faith. Are you tracking with me? Here’s another reason “There Is No god, Like Our God” – victory to overcome…is ours (v4-5). God makes it easy for us to overcome whatever life may through at us when we choose to stick close to Him – to live our lives from His perspective, rather than from ours. That doesn’t mean trouble won’t come, just when it does, victory is yours. It doesn’t mean tragedy won’t come, just when it does, victory is yours. Here’s the thing, it’s easier to forgive when you’re closely connected to God. It’s easier to not allow offense to take root when you’re closely connected to God. It’s easier to keep fear at bay when you’re closely connected to God. I think you get my point… stick close to God and well…the rest just falls into place.
