Romans 15:18-21 (ESV)For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to bring the Gentiles to obedience—by word and deed, 19 by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God—so that from Jerusalem and all the way around to Illyricum I have fulfilled the ministry of the gospel of Christ; 20 and thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation, 21 but as it is written, “Those who have never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.”
I love Paul’s enthusiasm to preach the gospel to those who have never heard. He caught the revelation as to why he was Unleashed – lost people matter to God and should matter to us. Paul also knew and this is super important for us to catch, that he was never alone in this mission and he did not have to rely on his own strength or ability to get it done. V19 makes that clear, for a power greater than ours is at work inside of us, a power we should learn to tap into and give way to. Did you also catch v20? His ambition is to tell folk about Jesus. Man! If we were to poll 5000 Chrstians, I wonder how many would state that as their life’s ambition? Have a great rest of your day!
