Hebrews 9:11-14 (NLT)
So Christ has now become the High Priest over all the good things that have come. He has entered that greater, more perfect Tabernacle in heaven, which was not made by human hands and is not part of this created world. 12 With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves—he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever. 13 Under the old system, the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow could cleanse people’s bodies from ceremonial impurity. 14 Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins.
As a newly born again Christian, I remember reading this portion of scripture and being extremely grateful for the sacrifice of Christ. You have to understand, before I was a Christian I was a rotten sinner. Meaning I sinned (allot) and was good at it. Eventually that sin started to eat away at my insides and I was starting to implode. I knew the wrongs I did were…wrong but I had no way of escape. They followed me everywhere I went and were constantly yapping in my head. But something wonderful and miraculous happened – I met Christ and He changed all of that. As v14 states, “Christ purified my conscience from sinful deeds”, suddenly I was free from those dastardly inner voices. Jesus washed my consciousness clean. I was now free to worship God in total and complete freedom. If you can relate, like this post, send it to everyone on your list and let’s spread the Good News of Christ’s wonderful salvation.
