Day 21 – Transformed tongue

Acts 4:5-10 (NLT)

The next day the council of all the rulers and elders and teachers of religious law met in Jerusalem. 6 Annas the high priest was there, along with Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and other relatives of the high priest. 7 They brought in the two disciples and demanded, “By what power, or in whose name, have you done this?” 8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of our people, 9 are we being questioned today because we’ve done a good deed for a crippled man? Do you want to know how he was healed? 10 Let me clearly state to all of you and to all the people of Israel that he was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the man you crucified but whom God raised from the dead.

Here’s a great example of how the Spirit transformed tongues. Prior to Peter’s encounter with the Holy Spirit, Peter used his tongue to deny Christ, but after the Holy Spirit got a hold of Peter’s tongue, he began to speak forth the truth of the Word of God with conviction and power. Remember, Peter was a tradesman. He wasn’t educated in the best of schools, he was just an ordinary man whom the Spirit of God touched and transformed. This is The Joy of a Spirit-Filled Life…God bringing holy transformation to a life through His Holy Spirit. Peter boldly spoke through the Holy Spirit (v8) and friends, you and I can too. In fact, anything we put our hands to that is ordained of God, becomes empowered by the Spirit of God. Oh what Joy!
