Romans 14:17 (ESV)
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Joy, Holy Spirit joy. Joy in the midst of a storm. Joy when trouble is brewing all around you. It’s the type of joy Peter had when thrown into prison and the same joy Paul tapped into when beaten and left for dead. Joy in the Spirit is a gift given to you and I to help us cope with the myriad of events circling us on a regular basis. Rather than focusing on the here and now, joy in the Spirit allows us to look beyond into the future God has planned for us. It’s not that we stick our heads in the sand and pretend nothing is happening, it’s just that we don’t become bogged down by the weight of it. My prayer for you is that you would begin to experience this joy in a deeper way as you continue on your journey in understanding the Joy of a Spirit-filled Life.
