Day 46 – Joy in the midst of storms

1 Thessalonians 1:2-7 (ESV)
We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, 3 remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. 4 For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, 5 because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake. 6 And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you received the word in much affliction, with the joy of the Holy Spirit, 7 so that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia.

The work God calls us to isn’t always easy – sometimes it is down right hard, but with the Holy Spirit’s help, you and I can make a successful go at it. Not only that, but obeying the Word of God can be tricky in an upside down world. Yet, with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can find joy in the midst of confrontation. Nobody said the Christian life would be easy, just ask the disciples or the early church, and friends, no matter what life throws at you, the Holy Spirit is here to bring you joy in the midst of it – btw, this is another reason I love The Joy of a Spirit-Filled Life. The boys in Daniel’s day were thrown into a blazing fire, yet came out smelling like roses and friends, no matter what comes your way, know that the Holy Spirit is here to produce joy in you.
