I Declare Resurrection – Listen to and Act Upon God’s Advice – Victory Life Church

I Declare – I will listen attentively to the voice of my Lord. I will position myself to hear, and I will act upon my Lord’s instructions, for He truly cares about me.

This is what I believe, and boldly declare!

John 21:1-7 (ESV)

After this Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, and he revealed himself in this way. 2 Simon Peter, Thomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together. 3 Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. 4 Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5 Jesus said to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” They answered him, “No.” 6 He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish. 7 That disciple whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea.

What’s not to love about this encounter? After Christ’s death, the dudes were left wondering “what’s next”. While Jesus walked on earth with them, newfound purpose in life was daily being unfolded and they were eating it up. Now, they found themselves kinda purposeless, so they went back to do what they knew to do, to fish and that’s where the fun begins. Jesus shows up and nets them a haul, using his built-in fish finder. This is what living the resurrected life does for a person, it connects you with the one who truly cares about you in more ways than you can imagine. These boys went back to working their business and Jesus shows up to bless it. As born again children of God, we also can expect our Lord to equally care about the success of our business and yes, bless it. But…did you catch the key to the haul? Jesus said, “cast the net to the right side” and they did. Friends, listen for His voice, then do what He says.

I Declare Resurrection – Generous Giver

I Declare - I will be a joyful giver. I will be one who freely gives, for I know my God does the same. I will be generous when generosity is called upon and I will trust God to look after all my needs.
This is what I believe and boldly declare!
Acts 4:32-37 (NLT)
All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. 33 The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God's great blessing was upon them all. 34 There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them 35 and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need. 36 For instance, there was Joseph, the one the apostles nicknamed Barnabas (which means "Son of Encouragement"). He was from the tribe of Levi and came from the island of Cyprus. 37 He sold a field he owned and brought the money to the apostles.
The resurrected life has no concern for coin, because those who its power has touched, know that the Lord is their source - He is their Jehovah Jireh, their provider. Believers in Christ, give to those in need and toward the work of the ministry, just as these believers did. Believers know, they are not giving unto man, but to God. They also know that God would look after what they need, so they give freely. This is the church in action. Not thinking about what is best for the Big 3 – me, myself and I, but what is ultimately best for the advancement of the Kingdom of God and for the betterment of their neighbor.
I Declare Resurrection – Living Hope

I Declare - that my hope securely rests in the person of Jesus Christ. He is my living hope. My hope, like my inheritance is imperishable, undefiled and unfading for it rests in Jesus.
This is what I believe and boldly declare!
1 Peter 1:3-9 (ESV)
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, 9 obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
Love that first verse, “Born again to a living hope”. The resurrection provided for the believer a “living hope”. Hope that is tangible and very, very real. In Christ is found all the power needed to live out our faith with meaning, with hope. Biblical hope can be viewed as being active/alive/living... Hope then can be said to be actively and confidently expecting of God. Let's then activate this "Living Hope” and confidently trust God for expected outcomes.
I Declare Resurrection – Doer of the Word

I declare - I will be a doer of the Word and not just a hearer. I will also be slow to speak and slow to anger. I will not allow for the circumstances of life to knock me off my Biblical path.
This is what I believe and boldly declare.
James 1:19-27 (ESV)
Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; 20 for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. 21 Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing. 26 If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless. 27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
The book of James is sometimes referred to as, “the Proverbs of the New Testament”, for the book is filled with practical reminders as to how a Christian ought to live. From perseverance, to true faith, to controlling one’s tongue, to submitting to God’s will, and to exercising patience; this book aids readers in living authentically and wisely for Christ. James asks the question – how’s your doer doing? Are you doing the Word of God or just going through the motions? Has the Word taken deep root or is it a surface faith? Great questions from James, the bro of Jesus. Hey…James had a front-row seat into the life of Christ, if anyone knows what a doer looks like, it would be him. Can I encourage you to put the Words of this great and masterful book into play in your life? The resurrected life becomes determined, even compelled to do this, so if you've been touched by our God, please do yourself a favor and allow the Word to work in and through you.
