I Declare – I will stand for what has been given to me through Christ. I will be a person who people desire to open up to and I will pray for people and trust God for their healing.

James 5:13-18 (ESV)
Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. 18 Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.

The resurrected life brings power to the believer. Power over sufferings, sickness, sins, power in our prayers and confession of the Word. Read it again and see for yourself. The devil, on the other hand, continues to try and strip the believer of such power but it’s ours, the scriptures say as much. The enemy, however, continually works hard at convincing us otherwise. Why? Strip the church of its God-given authority and we become like a toothless lion – we may roar but it scares nothing. Doesn’t this sound familiar? The devil attempts to have us switch places with him – he did it with Adam, he tried unsuccessfully with Jesus and he tries it with us. Let’s not allow that to happen, rather let’s begin to realize the authority given to us,  then ask God to show us what it means and how we are to work it out.
