I Declare – that I have been made right with God, not in and of myself, but through faith in Christ. My old self died and now I live trusting God the rest of the way.

This is what I believe and boldly declare!

Galatians 2:16-20 (NLT)

Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law. 17 But suppose we seek to be made right with God through faith in Christ and then we are found guilty because we have abandoned the law. Would that mean Christ has led us into sin? Absolutely not! 18 Rather, I am a sinner if I rebuild the old system of law I already tore down. 19 For when I tried to keep the law, it condemned me. So I died to the law—I stopped trying to meet all its requirements—so that I might live for God. 20 My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

A mouth full, but super tasty. Just when we think we know it all, we come across sections of scripture like this and we remember our need to trust in the Holy Spirit to lead us into this truth. Holy Spirit reminds us through verses like these of the work of the Cross and what it provided for us, namely, freedom from our old ways of doing things. In fact, that old guy…is now nailed to the cross with Christ (ask the Spirit of God to help you wrap your brain around that one)…and you now live anew through Christ. Heavy duty yes, but a reality none-the-less. You and I can now live out our lives relying upon and trusting in Christ our Savior (who lives in us) to guide us through the murky waters of life. The resurrected life provides us with the assurance of Christ always being there for us, especially when we need Him the most. So trust in the Son of God afresh my friends, for He loves you and gave Himself for you.
